This year PostFinance is supporting up-and-coming Swiss ice hockey players by contributing 608,000 francs. The 24 PostFinance Top Scorers of the National and Swiss League clubs in the latest competition earned a total of 304,000 francs for their clubs’ juniors. Once again PostFinance has doubled this sum and is committing the same amount to the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation to support national junior ice hockey teams.

The symbolic presentation of the cheque to the most diligent point scorers of the National League clubs took place this afternoon at the Kursaal in Bern. Since the 2002/2003 season, the PostFinance Top Scorers have been earning money with their goals and assists for Swiss Ice Hockey juniors. Every goal and every assist is worth 300 francs in the National League, and 200 francs in the Swiss League. At the end of the competition, the points scored are converted into cash. All of the money earned by the Top Scorers goes to the junior divisions of the relevant clubs.

Roman Cervenka is the Top Scorer of the National League

Roman Cervenka from SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers racked up over the course of 52 qualifying matches 20 goals and 44 assists, making him the Top Scorer in the National League. He was followed by Henrik Tömmernes from Genève-Servette HC in second place with a total of 58 points (10 goals and 48 assists). Fribourg forward Christopher DiDomenico, who scored 15 goals and had 39 assists, came in third.

More than 7 million francs raised for Swiss junior ice hockey

The thirteen Top Scorers of the National League have raised a total of 190,800 francs, while the Swiss League Top Scorers amassed 113,200 francs. PostFinance has this year once again doubled this sum and donated it to national junior ice hockey teams. All in all, the financial institution invested 608,000 francs in the future of Swiss ice hockey in the 2021/2022 season.

Supporting the next generation is important to PostFinance. Since 2002/2003, the PostFinance Top Scorer initiative has raised over 7 million francs for up-and-coming players in the National and Swiss League and national junior ice hockey teams.
