Thank you for the interest you have shown in PostFinance. You can open a new account with the right banking package in just a few steps – in most cases even completely online. We look forward to seeing you.

Questions and answers

  • It usually takes a maximum of 10 minutes to open an account digitally, and you can use your account with online banking immediately afterwards. You will receive your PostFinance Card and credit card by post within a few days.

    If you open a new account at a Swiss Post or PostFinance branch, it may take several days before you receive the opening documents, access to online banking and your card(s) by post.

  • You need a valid identity document (passport or ID card). You also need a smartphone to open an account online.

    For foreign identity documents, we also require your residence permit or permanent residence permit.

  • In some cases, it is currently only possible for new customers to open an account at a Swiss Post or PostFinance branch:

    • Not resident in Switzerland
    • Liability for taxation abroad
    • Partner accounts: the account should be in the name of two account holders
