Your job as a mobile app developer

Develop the smartest mobile banking in Switzerland

At PostFinance, we work on ways of managing Switzerland’s money both now and in the future. We create practi-cal solutions for our customers and help shape the technology trends on the market. We do this thanks to our unique culture, which enables us to work with a pioneering spirit every day.

Your work as a mobile app developer

With more than 1.1 million active app users each month (and rising), we manage one of Switzerland’s largest banking apps at PostFinance. As a mobile app developer, you help to create an impressive customer experience. Digital customer satisfaction is at the heart of everything you do. You use new ideas and technologies to keep the app up to date and continue developing it. As an Android developer, you use the Kotlin programming language and frameworks such as Jetpack Compose, Jetpack Navigation and MockK. As an iOS developer, you work with a code base in Swift/SwiftUI. Thanks to regular Platform team syncs, we are always learning from each other and discussing ideas.

You bring specialist knowledge – we bring exciting tasks

As a mobile engineer, you’re part of an agile development team and the driving force behind new tools and technologies. In close cooperation with your team, you develop innovative solutions and implement them for our customers. For instance, you develop new features such as crypto staking and multibanking and benefit from direct testing opportunities and visible customer feedback. You support us with good code coverage and quality, ensuring the sustained high quality of the app.

Our organization

Four (soon to be five) teams work on the PostFinance App. In every team, tech and feature teams alike, there are both Android and iOS developers who work together to drive forward the different subsections of the app. We are a young and dynamic team and place great emphasis on good team spirit.

You love flexible working – and so do we

Working from home isn’t just a “nice-to-have” perk for us, but has been standard for a long time. In many units, our employees in Switzerland have the option to work from home. What’s more, we have modern workspaces at our two locations in Bern and Zofingen, with creative zones and areas for exchanging ideas. We also offer co-working spaces in central locations at Bern station and Zurich Oerlikon station. To ensure that collaboration within the teams is as personalized as possible, we meet once a week for a team day in Bern or Zofingen. Balancing work and leisure is very important to us, which is why you can organize your working hours flexibly with us.

The core of our agile way of working and our cooperation is the “enterprise agile delivery” framework (EAD for short). When it comes to designing and further developing the EAD framework, PostFinance is guided by well-known, firmly established frameworks and practices. We incorporate aspects that are a fit for our company and culture, and deliberately avoid those that are not.

First-hand accounts – our employees talk about their job

  • As an iOS developer, I have an exciting and varied role, which I really enjoy. At PostFinance, we use the latest tools and technologies (such as SwiftUI, reactive programming and modularization) to develop products that offer an excellent customer experience. The company has built a culture in which everyone can contribute their ideas and suggestions at any time. Last but definitely not least, it’s fun and motivational to work with a talented, friendly and supportive team.

  • At PostFinance, I can work on an app that I use myself every day. This means I can also test new functions from a user perspective and actively introduce improvements.
