Conditions of participation

The prize draw for one bitcoin is governed by the following conditions:

  • Participation in the prize draw organized by PostFinance Ltd (hereinafter PostFinance) is subject to the conditions below. By entering the prize draw, participants accept these conditions of participation.
  • The competition is open to all PostFinance customers aged 18 and over who have permanent residence in Switzerland and invest at least 100 US dollars (net) in cryptocurrencies with PostFinance between 29 July and 22 September 2024. Participants must also not have held a crypto portfolio with PostFinance before 1 July 2024.
  • Participants cannot increase their chances of winning by making multiple or higher investments.
  • Each eligible customer may take part in the competition only once.
  • The 100 US dollars can be invested in any cryptocurrencies within PostFinance’s range.
  • PostFinance expressly points out that this competition does not constitute an invitation to trade in cryptocurrencies. It is also not a recommendation to invest in/purchase bitcoins or any other cryptocurrencies.
  • One bitcoin will be given away (1 BTC).
  • If won, a bitcoin will be transferred directly to the winner’s crypto portfolio. No cash prizes will be awarded. Prizes cannot be transferred to third parties.
  • Following the closing date, PostFinance will draw the winner by random selection from all participants. The prize draw will take place on 23 September 2024 and will be closed to the public. PostFinance will inform the winner in writing within ten days.
  • The winner has the right to refuse their prize. In this event, the person must contact our Customer Center on 0848 888 700.
  • The winner must declare the amount in their tax return. The winner must send PostFinance a residence certificate within 30 days. The win will expire if this residence certificate is not received by PostFinance within 30 days. The winner understands that their win is reported via a reporting form sent to the FTA (as per Art. 20a of the WTA).
  • PostFinance may modify these conditions of participation at any time. PostFinance reserves the right to terminate the prize draw at any time without advance notice and without giving a reason. In the event of suspected fraud or misuse, breach of these conditions of participation or other similar conduct, PostFinance may exclude individual persons from the prize draw without stating reasons. If participants are excluded or if the prize draw is discontinued, there will be no right to claim for payment or compensation.
  • To the extent permitted by law, PostFinance excludes any liability in connection with the competition.
  • PostFinance will enter into no correspondence regarding the prize draw. Participants have no right to information. Any right of appeal is excluded. The prize draw is subject to Swiss law. The sole place of jurisdiction is Bern.

  • No, you may take part in the competition just once.   • If you already had a crypto portfolio with PostFinance before 1 July 2024, you cannot take part in the competition.

  • Yes, it is possible to take part with one-off investments and with saving plans. For saving plans, the cumulative amount of at least 100 US dollars between 29 July and 22 September 2024 applies. 

  • Yes, you can invest the 100 US dollars in the cryptocurrencies of your choice. You can also purchase multiple cryptocurrencies.

  • The amount paid in at the time of the investment is decisive. Subsequent market fluctuations are not taken into account by PostFinance.

  • The amount paid in at the time of the investment is decisive. Any fees incurred in connection with the investment are irrelevant to the consideration of the 100 US dollars and therefore irrelevant to participation in the competition.
