The PostFinance youth account is available to children and young people from birth to the age of 20. In addition to the preferential interest rate, young people aged 12 and over also benefit from their own PostFinance Card (bank card) to withdraw cash from Postomats and ATMs. Young people also have the option of receiving a free prepaid card (Mastercard Value). From the age of 18, the free Mastercard Standard or Visa Classic Card is included on request.
Yes, young people between the ages of 12 and 20 can use e-finance and the PostFinance App if they wish. PostFinance offers a security guarantee for online banking and banking via the PostFinance App, provided that customers comply with the due diligence requirements.
You can use a youth account until the end of the year in which you turn 20. If proof of education or training is provided, PostFinance converts the account – from the age of 18 at the earliest – into a student account that is geared towards the financial needs of apprenticeships and studies. Customers in education or training with valid proof of their studies keep their account until the end of the year in which they celebrate their 30th birthday.
With a youth account from PostFinance, your pocket money or youth salary is in good hands. Young people use it to make small purchases using their card, the PostFinance App or online banking and to put money aside in the additional youth savings account. Mobile payment with TWINT is included free of charge.
From the age of 12, young customers receive a PostFinance Card (bank card) and an optional prepaid credit card with their parents’ consent. From the age of 18, they decide for themselves whether they want a prepaid card or a standard credit card.
Yes, young people aged 12 and over can pay online with e-finance and the PostFinance App, with parental consent. TWINT is also included free of charge.
Yes, young people / parents automatically receive account statements free of charge as a PDF document in e-finance and in the PostFinance App. On request, PostFinance can send your account statements by post with the paper option (CHF 5 per month).

With the youth savings account, children and young people benefit from a better interest rate and can easily put money aside for future purchases or spending on leisure activities.
A fund savings plan is also ideal for saving for your children’s bigger long-term goals. You can systematically invest on the stock exchange with small amounts (starting at CHF 20 per month) and benefit from potential returns.
Yes, for account holders who are minors, parents or legal guardians have access to the account to guide and support them in managing their money.
The youth account is designed in such a way that a negative balance is generally not possible. This protects the account holder from getting into debt. There are daily and monthly limits on spending and cash withdrawals with the card, which parents/young people aged 18 and over can adjust.
There is no maximum limit for the credit balance on a youth account. Please note that the favourable interest rate is limited for higher balances. We recommend that you pay larger balances into the youth savings account with preferential interest rates.
Account management for the youth account is free. Please note the following points to avoid fees:
Young people under the age of 18 require the signature of a parent or legal guardian to open a youth account.
To open an account, you need an identity document for the child or young person and your own identity card or passport.
People aged 18 and over can open a youth account themselves in just a few minutes via the PostFinance App. You must identify yourself with your ID and a face scan and then sign the account opening documents directly in the app. Once you have created the login, you can use the youth account right away. We will send you the card(s) by post within a few days.
For children and young people under the age of 18, the opening process takes a few days and involves personal identification at a Swiss Post branch or a PostFinance branch.
