Set up your PostFinance cards for Google Pay

Here’s how it works

  • Open the Google Wallet app
  • Take a photo of your PostFinance debit or credit card or enter the data manually and confirm the card details
  • Follow the additional instructions in the app to activate the debit or credit card
  • To set up Google Pay, you need:

    • Minimum OS version: Android 9.0+
    • Android smartphone or wearable (watch)
    • Google Wallet app
    • PostFinance Card combined with Debit Mastercard
    • PostFinance credit or prepaid card

  • How to pay at terminals with Google Pay

    • You can use your Android smartphone or wearable (watch) to make contactless payments at terminals.
    • Hold your watch or the back of your smartphone to the contactless-enabled payment terminal.
    • Wait for the payment confirmation.

    How to pay online with Google Pay

    • Select Google Pay as your payment method when paying in online shops.
    • Select your preferred debit or credit card in Google Pay and confirm the transaction with your fingerprint or PIN on your smartphone.

    Where to pay with Google Pay

    You can use Google Pay wherever you see this symbol.

  • Google Pay is one of the most secure payment methods. An encrypted number and one-time code are used for payment, not your card number. Your card number is never stored on your device or Google servers and cannot be shared with retailers. To keep your purchases confidential, Google Pay does not store any personal transaction data.

      If you are using a debit card, the amount will be debited from your account straightaway. If you have added a credit card, the amount will be debited as part of your monthly invoice. When using a prepaid card, you need to load money onto the card in advance.

    • Yes, you have to verify payments made via Google Pay, usually by unlocking your device or providing biometric authentication.

    • Yes. No matter whether you have added your card to Google Pay or TWINT or whether you pay with the physical card, you can benefit from our unlimited cash bonus programme.

    • Yes, you can set up Google Pay for several cards. For example, you can add a credit and a debit card.

    • When you pay with Google Pay, the same conditions apply as when you pay with your credit or debit card. Your only limit is therefore your card’s payment limit.
